ARIARI
Talk about an aesthetic. It's more than that—it's a soul. If it weren't for the noise pollution of NYC, and the crampness of the place, ARIARI would transport me to a place in Korea. I wouldn't say to the sea ports of Busan necessarily. With it's (beautiful) wooden interior, it gives a different type of Korea vibe, but Korea nonetheless. The service was as expected, pretty solid. Our main waiter was nice, explaining everyting in clear detail. Timaf isn't the biggest on seafood but we're exploring that side, and so he suggested things that allowed us to broach the seafood territory. Drinks were fabulous, and we got an extra one for our anniversary (thanks barkeep!). Her favorite was the fried crab, for it's diverse flavor composition. My favorite was probably the DIY seafood plate where you plate the fish on a bed of rice and seaweed wrap plus other things. My nitpick with it all is that it's all so small. Yes I know all NYC high-class premier michelin star restaurants do that, but I'm not a fan. I wanted more. And from the Korean places I eat in NJ, we never have to order much because each plate brings so much. Irregardless, there was not one plate that was bad. It all had a distinct, fusion of flavor. But more.
